Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
