Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
