Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
