Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
